Estimated Expenses For Guatemala

The following is an estimation of the fees and expenses that families can incur in addition to the placement fee described in the "Breakdown of Adoption Fee Schedule" for Guatemala.

Home Study-varies with agency ($1500-2000)$1650 (IAG)
Post Adoption Reports-varies with agency ($150-300)
        2 Reports required by IAG
$ 200 per report (IAG)

        Fingerprints$ 70 each adult
        Visa cost in Guatemala City$ 380
        DNA testing (paid directly to LabCorp)$ 470
 
On-line Education Course$ 100 per couple
*Airfare$ 500-700 each trip
Hotel-varies depending on availability and time of year
        Average 3-5 days each trip
$ 100-150 per night
Food-in hotel restaurants$ 40-100 per day
Citizenship Fees: If you travel only once and receive an
IR-4 Visa, you will be required to apply for citizenship.

**Re adoption fees:$ 500-2500
*Airfare-- varies depending on availability, advance notice, time of year, and city of origination. One trip is required to pick up the child, although it is recommended that you visit your child earlier in the process, resulting in two trips.
** Readoption necessary only if:
        1. re-adopted required by your state law-each state is different
        2. both parents did not see child prior to finalization of adoption in Guatemala.
        Fees will vary greatly from state to state and from attorney to attorney.
