IAG is an accredited, non-profit, licensed adoption agency, established in 1992. The agency is accredited by the Russian government and in the United States, by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc. for "meeting the highest national standards of professional performance." IAG is committed to providing personal service throughout the adoption process to help parents legally adopt from Russia and Guatemala.
The organization is a member of the National Council for Adoption and the Joint Council on International Children's Services. IAG is a very client oriented organization committed to successful adoptions. Some of the ways IAG is different from other organizations:
- IAG's programs are direct programs, meaning they are not dependent on independent contractors or facilitators. The philosophy of IAG is to make sure the placement meets the needs of the parents and the children.
- IAG requires in-person interviews with all prospective clients which enable both sides to develop a mutual trust and understanding and to create a foundation for a successful match.
- In most cases, IAG can arrange medical examinations for a child prior to adoption. This can provide an added peace of mind about a child's overall medical condition.
- IAG has unparalleled communication with everyone involved in the adoption process in Russia and Guatemala. Daily communications between IAG representatives and government officials enable IAG to keep up to date with necessary information about the children, and the latest political developments affecting adoption.
- IAG explains the travel process in detail and thoroughly reviews the actual adoption in Russia and Guatemala. In no case will a parent be asked to carry large sums of money for payment to any individual for "services". IAG will not place any client or their child in jeopardy.
- Mutual trust, careful planning and adoption preparation occur throughout the entire adoption process, from the homestudy, to document translation to maneuvering through the bureaucracy, families are never left to fend for themselves.
- The agency has an extensive program of pre and post adoption support and education, a mentoring program, a quarterly newsletter and two reunion events each year for all adoptive families.
- In the entire history of IAG, not one family has traveled and been unable to complete their adoption.
